People often think electrolysis and laser hair removal are basically the same thing. They’re not.<\/p>\n
Laser reduces hair growth. It works by targeting pigment in the hair shaft, which means it struggles with light, fine, red, or gray hairs. It also doesn’t work the same on darker skin tones. And at the end of the day, the FDA classifies laser as “permanent hair reduction” \u2014 not permanent removal.<\/p>\n
Electrolysis actually destroys the hair follicle. A fine, sterile probe is inserted into the follicle, and a small electrical current or heat (or both, in the blend method) is applied directly to the root. Once that follicle is destroyed, that hair is gone for good. Every hair color. Every skin tone.<\/p>\n
That’s why the FDA has recognized electrolysis as the only method of permanent hair removal. It’s been around for over 140 years, and it still holds that distinction.<\/p>\n

This is the honest answer: it depends. Hair grows in three phases \u2014 anagen (active growth), catagen (transition), and telogen (resting). Electrolysis only permanently destroys follicles in the active growth phase. So multiple sessions are needed to catch all hairs as they cycle through.<\/p>\n
Most clients see significant permanent reduction within 12 to 18 months of regular sessions. Areas with denser or coarser hair may take longer. Hormonal hair growth can require ongoing maintenance.<\/p>\n
